Amygdala
Medium: graphite pencil, digital

Description: Is it a snake, or a stick? This teaching piece, for patient education, shows the neural pathways regarding fear response. First, a mysterious object is seen and projected onto the retina of the eye. A message is sent through the optic nerve to the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus then sends a message to both the cortex and the amygdala where fear, then reason messages from the cortex are sent back to the hypothalamus.
